Mushir Hassan
Retiring Elmbrook School Board Member
"I am proud to support Mary Wacker given her years of experience as educator and district volunteer. She has a long track record of district involvement and engagement as a teacher, a parent, a volunteer, and an engaged constituent. For the last few years, I have seen Mary actively engaged in school board issues and she has displayed a keen understanding of district needs and priorities. I have also appreciated her insightful and thoughtful comments and input to the school board on issues over the last 2 years with ongoing attendance at many, many meetings, both at the board and committee level. She has displayed a reasonable approach to issues that is neither partisan nor extreme. Mary represents the balanced and reasonable approach that we need on the Elmbrook School Board. She understands the factors that have contributed to excellence at Elmbrook and will continue to reinforce them as a priority."

"In just a short conversation with Mary, it's clear how important the Elmbrook School District is to her, and how it has shaped her life since her days as a Brookfield Central student. Mary will bring passion, critical-thinking, and open-mindedness to Board decision-making, and will be a fierce advocate for teachers and students."

Laurie Johnson
Elmbrook Resident, Forensics Parent
"You have my vote, Mary! As my kids’ Brookfield East Debate and Forensics Coach, you taught them well how to research, understand, and articulate both sides of any issue. Beyond that, you fostered 'Team' among the students and encouraged mentorship between the experienced seniors and incoming freshmen. Fostering is a good word to use because for four years, you were their mom away from home.
In another instance, we worked together on a civic assignment. Even though you had never filled the roll before, you came well-prepared and well-studied on the proper procedures. It was obvious you took your role seriously.
For these reasons, you have my vote!"
Maureen Browne
Elmbrook Resident
"Mary, it has been great to see your name on yard signs around town and I want to thank you for running in these challenging times. Your impact on so many students at East, your endless efforts on behalf of forensics students over so many years...we will never forget your commitment to our kids and we'd love to see you on our school board. You have such great experience to draw on and we are spreading the word."
